Wichita Riverfront Stadium Backstop Dual Cable Tie-Back Tension Safety Netting System
Home of the Miami Marlins Triple-A affiliate, Wichita’s new Riverfront baseball stadium ushers in a new type of sports entertainment experience for fans. The 10,025-seat facility features 12 suites, a party deck, museum and will be one of the first in the nation designed with safety netting extending to the outfield foul poles.
Delta Precast designed the netting system to accommodate ice, wind and dead load variables using SAP 2000, a 3-D integrated structural design and analysis software. The 40 feet tall x 749 feet long black Ultracross netting is supported by 1,866 feet of galvanized support and tie-back cabling. The cables are supported by steel poles with custom anchored base plates. With groundbreaking in February 2019, the $75 million dollar project was completed in spring 2020.
