Delta is proud to be a part of several major road

Delta is proud to be a part of several major road and bridge projects throughout New York State. We are always striving to learn how to make the process more streamlined and more affordable for our clients. Members of our Transportation Team were in Albany this week, at the New York State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSATE) Conference to not only show off the wonderful work that Delta has done, but also learn more about the advancements in transportation and other related areas. Delta is always looking at ways to continue to learn, grow, and make it better everyday.

Our Director of Specialty Precast Services, Tamer Osman, was in Indianapolis this week, working with other members of the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) as part of Committee Week. The event is a way for Precast professionals from around the country to get together to discuss key issues, engage in discussion, and develop ideas to better help our current and potential clients with all of their Precast needs. As a fun way to network after the meetings, they went Go-Karting!

Today, Eric and Lisa are in Ocean City, Maryland for 69th Annual Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) Spring Conference. This conference gives school professionals across the state of Maryland the opportunity to network, learn about each other, and grow as a community. Delta has worked with a lot of school districts locally, and we’d love to be able to extend our expertise to school districts in other parts of the country. One of Delta’s core principles is clients, and we are constantly striving to form partnerships and offer them the best value solutions on their projects! Networking at events like this is key to providing the best possible learning spaces for future generations.

Delta takes great pride in being environmentally friendly. Yesterday, some of our employees planted 3 trees outside of our Endwell office in honor of Arbor Day. The trees will provide shade for our outdoor break area, an area where employees can enjoy eating lunch during the nicer weather.

In celebration of Earth Day, we wanted to showcase one of the unique design features we incorporate into our projects to add to it’s sustainability and bring synergy between the built environment and the natural environment – green roofs! Featured below is 2 Court Street in the City of Binghamton. This was a project completed by our Director of Landscape Architecture, Mike. Delta recently completed the green roof at 73 Court Street in Binghamton, and a rendering is provided of that as well.

Our Spring Fitness Challenge is going great! A few members of Delta team went to Chenango Valley State Park for a hike by the water! What a perfect sunny day!

Delta utilizes drone technology in numerous ways,

Delta utilizes drone technology in numerous ways, including capturing an image of a completed project for marketing purposes and capturing aerial data to create elevation models or 3D models of the project area. Drones are a fast and inexpensive way to acquire accurate data and map otherwise inaccessible places. To fly drones for Delta, our employees must become FAA Certified! A huge congratulations to Nate from our Vernon Office, who recently passed his Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License Course and is now our newest drone pilot!

Our Engineers and Architects are committed to designing sustainable buildings to strive to shape the world and our communities to greener places. Our dedication to sustainability can even be found in our corporate headquarters! We transformed an old grocery store into a modern, sustainable building that is now our Endwell, NY office, and it is LEED Gold Certified. The graphic below showcases many of the sustainable features in the interior and on the exterior of our office.

We have a rainwater collection and harvesting system that is used to flush our toilets, a solar hot water system to heat the shower water, and sunlight ceiling tunnels that allow for natural light to come in all day and reduce energy consumption. Additionally, our ceiling tiles are made from recycled paper, our carpets fare made from recycled materials, and our doors are eco-friendly. Working directly in a sustainably designed building has encouraged our employees to develop a mindset and lifestyle that contributes to the positive impacts within nature, the community, and the global environment.

Here are some ways you can be sustainable in your life at home like our designers!

- Composting
- Reuse materials
- Upgrade to highly insulated doors and windows
- Utilize solar/natural light
- Use a rain collector to water plants
- Reduce consumption
- Buy locally!

As part of the Spring Fitness Challenge, a group of Delta employees went for a hike at Ostiningo Park after work! We are happy to see everyone is having fun and enjoying the beautiful weather this week! Keep up the good work!

This month is the start of Delta’s Spring Fitnes

This month is the start of Delta’s Spring Fitness Challenge! This challenge takes place during the month of April and employees are divided into three teams and log their miles daily throughout the month for their workout associated with either run/walk, bike, and/or cardio. The team with the most points selects a charity and a monetary donation is made to that charity. Last week, a few employees went to the Vestal Rail Trail and then to IBM Glen to get some miles in and socialize. We are looking forward to the next group walk or hike!

Delta is honored to have sponsored the 2023 Southern Tier Science Fair, which was held at SUNY Broome Community College! The Science Fair was a fantastic, educational opportunity that encouraged the Southern Tier’s middle and high school students to pursue scientific and technological inquiries through individual and team science projects.
